St David’s RC Technology College is one of two Catholic sceondary schools within the parish boundaires.
The headteacher writes:
I feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity to serve St David’s community as Headteacher. Since my appointment to St David’s I have had the opportunity to talk to a range of people who know the school community. Consequently I feel very humble in taking up the position as I begin to understand the incredible high regard the wider community have for the school and its history.
My vision for St David’s is a school that continues to be at the heart of the Catholic community, proud of its culture and diversity, dedicated and fully inclusive in the school mission to support the development of young people through shared Gospel values. It will be at the leading edge of educational development and relentless in its pursuit of excellence. It will be an ‘intelligent’ school that will learn as it develops but it will not lose sight of important values. It will be a preparation for life and an important part of the pupils’ faith journey.
Our children will face the demanding world of the 21st Century with confidence and hope. They will be team players, imaginative, flexible and determined; they will want to shape the future, not respond to it. The school experience will be exciting, demanding and enjoyable. Visitors to the school will find it welcoming, friendly and purposeful; where there is clear concern for the individual, a commitment to high standards and a place where complacency and cynicism are not tolerated. It will be a school where young people enjoy learning and teachers enjoy teaching.
I have a firm belief (to quote Nelson Mandela) that “we were born to manifest the glory of creation that is within us, it is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.” With this in mind our whole community must strive together to ensure our children have the opportunity to “let their light shine”
Peter Coady, Headteacher
